Swingaway,
Inc

|
|
Swingaway, Rebound
sports Technology Inc., has been doubling its sales each
month since it started selling the Swingaway training
machine to the public just 20 months ago. Last month,
the 12-person company had its best month yet, netting
$30,000 in profits.
The company started selling the machines to professional
players and teams in 1996, but most of its sales now come
from Little League and high school-age players. So far,
the bulk of the company's revenues are coming from sales
of the Swingaway machines. The Swingaway training machine's
foundation is a mesh net attached to steel frame that
stands about six feet tall on the pro model. A baseball
is tethered to a bungee cord that hangs from a steel tube
attached to the frame, and the ball's position can be
adjusted to different heights and areas of the strike
zone. After the ball is hit, the bungee snaps it back
into place.
The tether-ball trainer can also be detached, allowing
the net to be used for throwing and fielding practice.
The entire apparatus comes apart and be folded into a
bag for easy transport. Swingaway retails for $299. |
